Pupa Season

Within the realm of transformation, we feel like a butterfly. Now that we have our wings, we can do anything we set our minds to. Okay, maybe not ANYTHING and life definitely feels like infinite possibilities. Since escaping the cult of the Jehovahs Witnesses, we have slowly, but surely, been filling our toolbox with tips, tricks, and a slew of “flying” lessons.

  • We’ve developed healthy ways of coping with fear/anxiety/depression.

  • We’ve learned how to feel and identify our feelings.

  • We’ve figured out how to give ourselves validation before seeking it from outside sources.

  • We’ve transformed our physical body.

  • We’ve allowed our energetic body to take up all of the space we deserve.

  • We’ve created beauty and spread it throughout the city with our fiber art.

  • We’ve discovered that saying yes inauthentically will show up as resentment down the road.

  • We’ve come to understand that “No” is not against us.

  • We’ve found community.

  • We’ve opened up to play, once again.

  • We’ve carved out a routine for ourselves.

  • We’ve built a lifestyle that works for us.

  • We’ve found that there is life outside of our Motherhood.

  • We’ve given ourselves the permission to breathe without guilt.

  • We’ve released the control of our surroundings.

  • We’ve surrendered to the flow of love.

As a caterpillar, the world felt so big, while we felt just ever so tiny. Almost like we didn’t matter at all. Like there was no worth whatsoever to the contributions we made. Then came the fun part, turning into goo, and completely reinventing the idea of who we are from the inside, out. Temple has been instrumental in our growth and healing. Even during the hardest of our hards during Pupa Season, I was able to be present for our events and know that we’re not alone in the goo.

Emerging from the chrysalis has been wildly difficult, and the gentle breeze from the strong flap of our wings makes it ever so worth it.
